Bihari Chow Mein | Desi Hakka Noodles | Bihari Street Food | Indian Street Food


In India we love to localise every international cuisine. The close proximity to China has made Chinese cuisines one of the favourite foods in India. Chow Mein which is a Chinese dish was brought to Kolkata by Chinese migrants and got an Indian twist. From Kolkata, it became a craze in the neighbouring Bihar. Today, in the state of Bihar, Chow Mein is a hot favourite local street food.



Ingredients:

·        Chopped Ginger + Garlic + Green Chillies – 2 tbsp

·        Chopped Cabbage – 1 cup

·        Chopped Carrot – 1 cup

·        Chopped Capsicum – 1 cup

·        Green Chilly sauce – 2 tbsp

·        Red Chilly sauce – 2 tbsp

·        Schezwan sauce – 2 tbsp

·        Hakka Noodles – 1 packet

·        Oil -  6 tbsp

·        Salt as per taste.

Method

1.   Boil Noodles as per the instructions on the packet.

2.  Heat oil in a pan. Add the chopped Ginger, Garlic, Green Chilly and stir fry.

3.  Add the chopped vegetables and stir fry.

4.  Add sauces and stir fry.

5.  Add the noodles and mix.

6.  Bihari Chow Mein is ready to serve.
